Prior to the release of the first digital album, Great Country Ballads, this past February, the last full length album from Ray Stevens appeared late in 2016, the holiday album Mary and Joseph and the Baby and Me. Concurrently he was taping episodes of his television series and focusing on the construction of his showroom which ultimately took on the name, CabaRay. The production of his television show and the construction of the CabaRay was Ray's main focus between the years 2016-2018. In the background while all of that was happening Ray continued recording. In 2018 he received a Star on the Nashville Walk of Fame. In 2019 he was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame. The results of his continued recording began to surface this past February...and it's only my assumption that had we not have had a pandemic upend society throughout 2020 these music projects probably would've been released at some point last year...but, again, that's just my speculative guess. If Nouveau Retro is something new to you then you're probably going to wonder what songs are on it...and if this is the case some of the songs Ray recorded for this digital album are: "Mountain of Love", "April in Paris", "Cry Me a River", "Blue Moon", and "Lay Me Down Roll Me Out to Sea".

Ray Stevens: Nouveau Retro returns to the Amazon Top-100...
Hello all Ray Stevens fans!! I looked at the Amazon Top-100 New Digital Releases in Country yesterday evening and discovered that Ray's current digital album, Nouveau Retro, made a return to the list. The list, as some of you know, changes every hour. The digital album reached a peak of number 25 on the day it was released and for a couple of weeks bounced all around the Top-100 before dropping off. It's since returned...yesterday emerging at number 35. Some may ask themselves: why is this blogger paying so much attention to a list like that?. I'll answer that question by saying that, as a fan of Ray Stevens, anytime I see his work recognized in a positive way or I see it ranked on a music list I'm going to make note of it regardless of where it's ranked, how long it's been ranked, etc. Does this mean I scour the internet in search of lists that his songs or albums appear on? No, not exactly...but I do keep my eyes open for whenever his work appears on Amazon lists or on lists by Billboard magazine...particularly if it's a new release like Nouveau Retro and the previous three digital albums which all made appearances on Amazon's Top-100. The digital album can be purchased HERE.
