It's October already...welcome to the beginning of the 10th month of the year as it features an upcoming series of Ray Stevens concerts...
This coming Saturday, October 6th, Ray Stevens will do two segments at The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. The legendary organization/radio series began in 1925 on WSM radio and it's soon to celebrate it's 87th birthday this weekend. The show is streamed on-line at their web-site. I've not seen any information about what time Ray's performances are to take place.
Tomorrow, October 3, will be the very first 2012 Presidential Debate of the year between Mitt Romney and Obama. Unlike the many, many pundits on TV and radio I don't necessarily believe that Obama is going to skate through the debates. There are some big names in the political world worried about the performance factor...wondering whether or not Obama will be aggressive or come across sympathetic...with some thinking that if Romney comes across overly aggressive it'll make Obama appear sympathetic.
I don't happen to feel that way.
While some think Obama will skate through the debates, I think Obama has skated through his first term in the White House without any scrutiny from the so-called mainstream media. Even today with a controversial health care law, there are numerous energy policies in the works or soon to take effect that are sure to increase electricity bills, there are several bills that have long since been passed into law but strategically won't become effective until 2013 (after the election), there's been higher fuel and food prices for everybody (even the roller grill items at various gas stations that used to have a combo sales price of 2 for $2.00 have since increased twenty-two cents and now roller grill items sell 2 for $2.22), there are increased taxes on everybody, there are murders taking place on the border and just recently a terrorist attack on a U.S. Consulate in Libya on September 11th but for the first few weeks the Administration blamed the attack on a You Tube video...and all of the President's spokespeople and supporters were running around deliberately putting the blame on a controversial video.
Strangely enough, even with the press secretary and others clearly visible on-camera tying the attacks to a video on You Tube, they've since changed their storyline, and are now saying that the President declared what had happened a terrorist attack from the very beginning by citing a few lines in a speech he gave where he vaguely associated what took place in Libya with terrorism. I read those remarks that Obama's supporters are spreading all over the internet in their quest to hide the facts and put a smiley face on things but Obama doesn't specifically state that the September 11th attack in Libya was well planned and thought out in advance and are indeed an act of terrorism. Instead Obama, as mentioned before, used vague references to terrorism and basically comes off as unclear, indecisive, and unsure but yet we're now suppose to believe that Obama was on the ball, had it all figured out, and there wasn't any lapse in judgement or any incompetence at all.
Now, after all of that, Obama continues to show up at numerous campaign functions all over the place and the media ham it up with the President and smile for the cameras like there's nothing going on and everything's fine with the world. It's nauseating.
Here to help us laugh through this Obama misery is Ray Stevens and his "Obama Nation" video...
