Good afternoon all the Ray Stevens fans...Ray appeared on Fox and Friends this morning, twice. He appeared toward the end of the televised program and sang a medley of songs from The Encyclopedia of Recorded Comedy Music. Songs featured were "White Lightnin'", "Charlie Brown", "Chug-a-Lug", and "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor?".
You can see this by clicking the following: Ray Stevens Medley. If the video plays in slow motion, right click over top of the video and it'll play at normal speed. The video playback was slow for me and so I right clicked over top of the video and the speed corrected itself. Make sure you right click over part of the video that of course doesn't obscure Ray!
After the show ended Ray appeared on what's known as After the Show Show...an extended visit where he spoke more about the Encyclopedia and performed "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" in it's entirety.
Here's the link to that performance: Ray Stevens on Fox and Friends, After the Show.
Ray is scheduled to appear later this evening on a Fox News Radio program at 7:30pm. I will more than likely be asleep at that time (I'm a third-shift worker and so I sleep during the afternoons and most of the evening!). So, I'll check the internet tomorrow morning and see if there's any podcasts available of the interview. If there's any, of course, I'll be posting the links on this blog page.

Ray Stevens and the O'Reilly Factor...
The latest music video from Ray Stevens, "The Skies Just Ain't Friendly Anymore", was highlighted on The O'Reilly Factor a couple days ago during one of the program's signature segments. This marks the fourth time that one of Ray's music video's have gotten a mention on the #1 cable-news program in America. Previous mentions were for "God Save Arizona", "Come to the USA", and "We the People".
The highlight is 30 seconds long and it shows a snippet of the music video as you can tell from the video embed above. I had missed the segment apparently by several minutes because Monday night, when this mention occurred, I had changed channels to get an update on a college basketball game on a local channel and afterward I left the living room and came back on the computer...obviously if I had seen this segment Monday night I would've made mention of it that night. The highlight is an example of one of those kind of unexpected gifts.
Ray appeared on The O'Reilly Factor in 2010 to discuss "We the People" and politics in general. O'Reilly had, in a previous episode, highlighted Ray's web-page, causing it to go off-line due to the barrage of hits that the site undertook. When Ray appeared several weeks later he thanked O'Reilly for causing the site to crash because it shown the power of national publicity and how one mention on a TV show could cause hundreds of thousands of people to attempt to access a web-page at the same time.
Meanwhile, "The Skies Just Ain't Friendly Anymore" music video has gotten over 40,000 hits as of this writing. The most recent hit total is 40,981. The song had it's biggest impact to date on Amazon early on Tuesday morning as the Mp3 download experienced a meteoric jump to #17 on Amazon's best-seller list for comedy Mp3 singles. Each hour the single was rising and rising...one hour it was #48, the next #36, and then the next hour it was #17, then the next hour #19. It leap-frogged up and down the Mp3 comedy single list throughout Tuesday afternoon and into the evening. This activity was largely due, in my opinion, to the mention of the song/video on The O'Reilly Factor.

Come for the Laughs with Ray Stevens...
As one of the biggest Ray Stevens fans around I love the continued success of his latest music video on You Tube. "Come to the USA" has now risen to 2,136,682 hits and I caught a commercial for the We The People CD collection on Fox News Channel. Ray has a commercial uploaded on You Tube which runs over 2 minutes in length...the commercial that I saw during Glenn Beck's program Thursday was completely different from the one on You Tube. I uploaded the longer commercial in a previous blog. The shorter commercial that's been airing on Fox News Channel starts off with Ray singing a piece of "If 10% Is Good Enough For Jesus" as Ray does a voice-over talking about the collection and the over 3 million views of "We The People". The You Tube commercial has gotten 31,900 hits and "We The People" is getting close to 3.2 million hits.
One of the other great things is the continued success of the CD on Amazon. The CD as well as the digital Mp3 version has been jumping around in the Top-50 of the country and pop music lists as well as the Top-10 in the Mp3 comedy release list since April. As of this writing it's in the Top-10 among best selling country music CD's at #8 and #61 among pop music CD's. The Mp3 counterpart shows the digital CD at #4 among best selling comedy releases and #23 among country music releases. As I always remind readers: these numbers fluctuate every hour. A #4 one hour can be a #45 the next and then back up to #17, etc etc. The object of the game, as is the case with anything that's on a popularity chart, is to stay as high on the best seller lists as possible or remain among the Top-100 as much as possible. In other words be a consistent seller. Amazon ranks everything it sells. There are lots of CD's on there with sales ranks in the thousands, for example.

Ray Stevens visits Fox News Channel...
Ray Stevens brings in the new month of June in a big way! What a way to kick off a new month...
June 1, 2010...this was the day that "Come to the USA" was given exposure on America Live, a program that airs on the Fox News Channel, hosted by Megyn Kelly. Even more than the exposure that the song/music video achieved was the extra bonus of Ray Stevens himself being interviewed. Most people will remember that Ray's previous appearance was on The O'Reilly Factor. He and Bill O'Reilly talked about "We The People" and the over sensitivity of some who wish to control what society views as humorous. In other words some of their discussion was about the smothering of political correctness onto society in general...enabling harmless comical songs and movies to become deemed politically incorrect nowadays.
This time around Ray and Megyn spoke of illegal immigration and she remarked that Ray's latest videos have become super-viral...citing "We The People" having hits of over 3,000,000 and "Come to the USA" approaching 2,000,000 hits. Ray gives his opinions on illegal immigration and states that he's all for legal immigration but he doesn't stand for anything illegal. Ray talks about his latest CD, We The People, and mentions his web-site a couple of times.
As of right now Fox News has uploaded the interview onto You Tube and I'm embedding that interview below so you all can see it...
As always I shrink the height and width on any video I embed because I don't want the video to run over into the right side of the screen and jumble up anything that's written over there.
"Come to the USA" is sitting at 1.8 million hits on You Tube and climbing...in a previous blog I mentioned the video was at 1.5 million and that was just a couple of days ago. The actual hits so far for the music video is 1,866,007 and given this is June 1st it certainly appears that Ray will indeed reach 2,000,000 You Tube hits in a month's time: May 13-June 13.

Ray Stevens: Caribou Barbie, Part Three
Well here we are once again in Ray Stevens world! The play count at the moment for his latest music video about Sarah Palin, "Caribou Barbie", sits at 16,618. This is an increase since my last blog entry earlier this morning of 4,418 plays. I'm sure the blog world is becoming familiar with the music video even as I write this. It seemed as if word didn't spread as quick as before, referring to "We The People", but word spread quickly at some point on Saturday and it continued into Sunday with quite a few blogs picking up on the music video. The video was officially uploaded on March 11th and so it took 3 days for people to start spreading the video around on the internet at a much more rapid rate. Now all that's left is to continue to enjoy "Caribou Barbie" and witness it's play count continue to rise...and eagerly anticipate Ray's full-length CD.
I am sure I can speak for all Ray Stevens fans when I say we hope that Fox News will help promote the music video/song. His previous video, "We The People", had already topped the 1,000,000 play count before he began appearing on mainstream cable news programs and on radio shows. As I was commenting elsewhere, Ray at some point will need that exposure on Fox News again...and the fact that Sarah Palin is a contributor to Fox News it looks as if it's only a matter of time before the channel mentions the music video, at least that's what we're hoping for. Ray's appearance on The O'Reilly Factor was such a success that viewers stormed Ray's web-site, causing it to crash.
Speaking of his previous music video..."We The People" continues to receive activity on a consistent basis. That video has obtained nearly 50,000 additional plays in a couple of weeks time and it sits at the moment at 2,780,473. The video could still reach 3,000,000 hits before it's all said and done especially since ObamaCare is becoming a hot news item once again.
"Caribou Barbie" in the meantime is a funny music video parodying Sarah Palin's public image in a good-natured way and taking jabs at Obama and delivering visual jabs at mostly liberal personalities on cable television, all wearing lip-stick, both male and female. Once you see the video you'll understand. There are several catch-phrases that can be lifted from this song, too. "You bet'cha!" I think will be one of them as well as "I'm votin' Caribou" but probably more than any "Obama shelved in 2012". The link will take you to the video. If the video skips it's probably due to some kind of technical issue. I've watched the video quite a few times and sometimes it'll start and stop and sometimes it'll play clear through. Highlight the URL and copy and paste it in your individual search engine. The video will show up in the search results.
