Ray Stevens: Fun and music comes your way at the CabaRay...

Hello once again!! We find ourselves on a Saturday and you know what that means! Ray Stevens will once again take the stage at his CabaRay showroom. The concert gets underway at 7:30pm Central time. Now, before the concert, one of the experiences to have is to walk around the showroom and look at all of the paintings, trophies, and photos that line the walls. There's a gift shop stocked with all types of Ray Stevens souvenirs and there's also the piano bar. The piano bar is the first thing to open followed by the gift shop. The main performance area inside the CabaRay opens up for a pre-concert dinner. There are two types of concert tickets available for purchase. One of the tickets is for a dinner and concert while the other ticket is for the concert only. Those who purchase concert-only tickets will be allowed to walk around the showroom, visit the gift shop, and lounge around in the piano bar while dinner is being served in the main performance area. Inside the piano bar is the CabaRay Wine...which is the most notable among the other types of beverages served there...since it has the CabaRay logo on it. Those of you planning on attending tonight's concert and are in the area click this LINK to purchase tickets. Now, of course, if you're planning on attending a future concert by all means click the link, too.

Yesterday was the birthday of Ronnie McDowell. In some circles within country music he was often described as an Elvis impersonator. That kind of description always struck a nerve with me because Ronnie, if people paid enough attention, actually sang songs in his own voice...and he only sang like Elvis by request or if he was performing one of Elvis' songs. He wasn't an impersonator in the sense that he never had his own style or his own voice...so I've always disliked the ignorant critics shrugging him off as an Elvis clone. He can sing like Elvis from all time periods...the younger Elvis or the older Elvis...and in this performance from an episode of Ray Stevens CabaRay Nashville, Ronnie performs "I Need Your Love". He explains that it was the first Elvis song he ever heard.

Elvis, as you could guess, had a monster hit with the song. Here in the United States it reached the Top-10 in the summer of 1959 but over in the United Kingdom the song hit number one and remained at the top for 5 weeks!! Here's Ronnie McDowell's performance of "I Need Your Love"...
