Hello all of you Ray Stevens fans!! Well, we're one day away from the first concert at the CabaRay for the 2022 concert season. Ray's spacious showroom re-opens tomorrow evening March 19th...the piano bar sets the mood and then, shortly thereafter, the dinner portion of the evening begins. If you've ordered a dinner ahead of the concert you'll be allowed to enter the concert area 2 hours before the show. If you didn't order a dinner you'll be allowed to enter the concert area 1 hour before the show, or, you can remain in the piano bar, or, you can look around and take in the art work lining the walls and view the various awards that Ray's won over the years. The concerts last 90 minutes and the piano bar re-opens following Ray's performance...and usually Ray goes into the piano bar and participates in autograph/photograph sessions with fans and performs piano duets and sing-a-longs with the showroom's resident pianist, John Jonethis. Those planning on going to one of Ray's CabaRay concerts can click HERE for more information.
A couple of months ago I wrote a lengthy blog entry about Ray's 1982 album, Don't Laugh Now, reaching 40 this year. Adding to that blog entry in this one I've decided to embed a performance by Ray Stevens of one of his singles that year, "Written Down In My Heart". I've embedded this video performance in the past but since I didn't include it in a January blog entry that I wrote I've chosen to embed that performance here. The love ballad comes from the pen of a writer named W.T. Davidson. The performance comes from a 1982 appearance by Ray on The Barbara Mandrell Show. Ray guest starred on their variety show twice. Take notice and appreciate the wonderful introduction Barbara Mandrell provided...
