Ray Stevens: My review of his Heartland Network appearance...

Hello Ray Stevens fans!! As promised in my previous blog entry I'm back to give a brief review of his guest hosting of the Heartland Network television series, Country Classics. Ray opened the show with a greeting and mentions that John Berry and Collin Raye will be among the music video presentations. Ray then presented the first music video of the episode, "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?", from Alan Jackson. Ray then presented a music video he produced in 2016, "Dear America".

If you search the blog archives off to the right hand side of the screen and go to the year, 2016, you'll see numerous blog entries I composed surrounding "Dear America". Ray felt so strongly about the song that he even produced a behind the scenes video clip of the music video...with commentary from him added in. The making of the music video emerged on YouTube on September 1, 2016 and the full music video made it's debut on September 6, 2016. The upcoming 15th anniversary remembrance of September 11, 2001 was right around the corner when "Dear America" made it's debut in 2016. Now, you do the math, 5 years later means that this coming September 11th will mark the 20th anniversary remembrance. Can you believe it?? The show opening with the Alan Jackson song, followed by Ray's "Dear America" recording, was soon followed by "All Come Together", a music video from John Berry and a host of guest vocalists. As one can tell the overall theme of this episode is unity, love of country, and life. Collin Raye makes an appearance and discusses his first album of all-new songs in several years. Ray isn't interviewing him...it's footage of Collin speaking about his new album and it was inserted into the episode as a lead-in to the music video. He remarked that his previous two releases had been cover projects...one being a tribute to Glen Campbell. He mentions the song, "Scars", and the vocal accompaniment of Miranda Lambert. This is followed by the "Scars" music video (released in November 2020).

After the last commercial break Ray discusses where his music can be purchased online and he promotes the CabaRay showroom before concluding the episode with an intro to Lorrie Morgan's "Something in Red" music video. The show ran closing credits while the video was playing and the feed abruptly cut to the next show before the music video ended. All in all it was fun to see Ray participate in this kind of show. I had mistakenly thought that the music video content would've been geared more toward his contemporaries since he was the guest host and given that it's called Country Classics but that wasn't the case. There's another episode of Country Classics scheduled on the Heartland Network later this week...as of this writing I don't know if that's going to be a different episode or if it'll be a repeat of the episode Ray guest hosted today. I'm closing the blog entry with "Dear America" from Ray Stevens. The 2016 video, as you can tell, was done in letterbox format. You can stream the Heartland Network on their WEBSITE. The live streaming is accessed rather simply...you click the button that states 'Watch Heartland!'. Their website is streamed under the title Get After It Media.
