Hello all...welcome to a brand new month!! The month of September, as of this writing, is set to be a big month...the main reason for that is the re-opening of the Ray Stevens CabaRay showroom in West Nashville!! Ray opened the CabaRay in January 2018 and did two full seasons of concerts there (2018 and 2019). As all of you know he, like everyone else in the country, fell under strict health guidelines from local, State, and Federal heath departments. Mandates, edicts, and all kinds of other restrictive measures were put in place in late spring of 2020 and from that point in time until nearly a year later life as we knew it was either halted, restricted, and in some cases irreversibly altered. Lockdowns on a national scale came and were later lifted...and vaccines emerged. Ray attempted to re-open the CabaRay in the fall of 2020 and he intended on implementing the health department requirements but, those requirements, they were so intrusive it created a less than stellar experience for those that attended the few concerts Ray performed. He decided to close the showroom down and wait until he could fully open up the showroom restriction free. Now, nearly a year later, Ray is giving the re-opening a second go around this coming weekend. The re-opening date is September 4th, this coming Saturday. You can read all about the CabaRay by clicking HERE. Here's to a fun and fascinating third season of concerts at the CabaRay! That link takes you to the official CabaRay webpage. The video below is a promo for the CabaRay, too.
I'm thinking that among the songs Ray will incorporate into his setlist are some from his 4-CD box set, Iconic Songs of the 20th Century. In my mind I think songs from Ray's 4-CD box set, like "Goin' Out of My Head", "Unchained Melody", "Oh, Pretty Woman", "Stardust", "Slow Dancing", "Sweet Dreams", and "Crying Time" should be inserted into his setlist and perhaps some will. I'd like to see Ray, on video, singing any one of those songs...particularly "Goin' Out of My Head". Well, we actually do have Ray on video singing "Unchained Melody"...but video footage from the CabaRay of him singing those songs is something I'd love to see. It's Showtime at the CabaRay in Three Days...September 4th!!
