Hello once again!! We've reached the end of another week...and a somewhat busy week for Ray Stevens. His comedy album continues to appear on Amazon's New Releases Top-100. It's ranked on the CDs and Vinyl/Country Music list. My review of the digital copy of Ain't Nothin' Funny Anymore is on Amazon. I had previously written a review for the CD release, too, and I was going to leave it at that but then I decided to post a review of the digital copy as well. I own a CD copy and the digital copy is in my online music library at Amazon.
As I delve into more embedding of select audio tracks from the new Ray Stevens comedy album, Ain't Nothin' Funny Anymore, I make my way to a selection called "Old Dog" from the pens of Frankie Lackey and Corene Lackey. I had heard this song done as a duet between Ray and Tanya Tucker on an episode of his television show, CabaRay Nashville. On this comedy album Ray sings it solo. I had never heard of the songwriters before and so I looked up their names and discovered that they've been involved in music for quite a number of years/decades, locally, in Georgia. "Old Dog" is a love song of devotion and it's got a catchy, up-tempo country sound. I could see Ray perform this song on any number of television shows or at his CabaRay showroom...and I'll bet if he ever put it into his concert set list it would be a crowd favorite.
